Introduction:
Originally the pertinent positive and pertinent negative are medical term refers to presence or absence
of specific pathophysiologic features. Pertinent positive refer to features or factor(s) whose presence is
minimally sufficient in justifying the final classification. It is useful to “rule in” a particular diagnosis.
(Gibson, Physician Quara Updated July 13, 2018 · ).Pertinent negative refer to features or factor(s) whose
absence is necessary in asserting the final classification. It is not actually a diagnosis but useful to “rule
out” other diagnostic possibilities (Matt Saks, 2018 ).

The benefits of pertinent negative in human interaction is to understand the context, empathize and
reason with the other person. This also helps to understand between the lines and to sense issues and
things, which are true. According to Amy Hartman, “Astute observation is critical to professional success.
The ability to observe is grounded in the perception of visual information and the effective articulation of
what the eye sees and what the brain interprets”. The visual intelligence is necessary to obtain the
accurate and reliable information about the situation around us or the individual we are interacting with
them. Visual intelligence is the concept that we see more than we can process, and it is the idea of thinking
about what we can see, taking in this information, and seeing how it applies to our lives. Avoid gather
information from external environments only. Help to solve every problem we are facing. According to
Amy Hartman discussed that “to be more visually intelligence we should use the four A’s “Assess the
situation, Analyze what you see, Articulate your observations and Act upon them”.

Then when we do, we will get the reliable representative interpretation to the situation or of the root or
hidden reasons from which a problem or employee behavior arise and eliminating things that do not
matter. Of course, this produce positive effect on our perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors. Subsequently
improve observation and communication skills and enhanced the exchange of critical information for
thousands of professionals and leaders. Help taking accurate decision avoid the problems of
misunderstanding and misjudgment.

As manager, I should identify the missing characteristic or what we don’t see about other people or the
situation surrounding us. Simply we need to be visually intelligence. Looking closer and again each time.
We should focus on the details. Put logical questions and look by this way to find answers before we take
decision. Why this employee saying or doing that? What the hidden reasons that make this employee
behavior or this situation to happen? What are the root causes that are missed (we did not see) or hidden

behind (negative pertinent) the direct causes that are presented to us and clearly seen (positive
pertinent). Eventually we will understand the behavior of others this will accurate perception in our mind
the will help us to take more accurate decision because we reached the reliable representative
interpretation to the situation. When do this the interaction with others will improve

In my situation, I have to prospects that I consider. Improvement of this concept reflected in tow
situation. The first when I face problematic situation or employee that I do not understand his behavior
or why he did something in particular situation. In this case, I used to search deeply, try to obtain all
information, listen to different side’s opinion and take a time to look repeatedly before I print a perception
or decision about. The second when I face something that I know nothing about or employee with
unacceptable behavior. In this case, I know that maybe bad. I try to identify the hidden (negative
pertinent).Of course, instead of presenting my understanding I never let them know that I am aware.
According to the assessment of the situation or behavior, I expect that if I present my understanding by
this way, I am pushing them to be not commitment more and more. Because I made a decision
inaccurately; therefore I am exaggerating the situation and making it worse. Instead of doing this I usually
begin presenting that I have or reached a positive perceptions or information about them, and their
behavior. Displaying this to them artificially which will appear on my behavior during our interaction. It is
exactly similar to saying, “You are very good, I found great character about you, and others describing you
positively I trust you, because I am sure that you are as described”. I continue observe them and their
behavior. I found great response instead of their previous behavior (were negative, they changed greatly
and their behavior become positive. Over a time, not only become positive they become very competitive
and creative may be you can describe them now the best employee in the workplace.
