WANKHEDE STADIUM

In 1940 it was planned by PK Das & Associates to reconstruct the stadium to


upgrade to high tech systems which can be used in future and keeping in mind
the design of the structure as it was located between marine drive and artdeco
buildings. It was supposed to be designed to hold a capacity of 50,000
spectators but currently it is 33,108 .

Though after re-construction stadium required renovation for the cricket world
cup which was suppose to be held on 2011. Before renovation stadium
capacity was 45,000, after renovation it came down to 33,108.
Parking facilities are still now available, if you want to take your car you have
to park it in nearby hotels like marine plaza or oberoi hotel. BEST buses are
easily available as they drop near the stadium gate. There are different
basements for various purpose such as Press meet in North stand , Players
facilities basement behind MCA Pavilion & Museum next to Garware Pavilion.
Coming to technology there are 29 cameras used in a cricket match played and
over 300 cctv cameras inside and outside for whole area under surveillance .

Location
Wankhede is located at exact South Mumbai , where every one can access it
through private vehicles but public transport is best .
Bookings:
Tickets can be booked online on various apps like bookmyshow or else
Wankhede stadium has ticket window where you can buy match tickets.
Security
Whole area is secured with cctv cameras and flood lights are highly visible .
Timings:
It opens at 11:00 AM and is open till 8:00PM , best time to visit stadium for
look around is in afternoon after 3.
