6. Write a brief note on your topic: The era of cold drinks began in 1952 but the
industrialization in India marked its beginning with launching of Limca and Gold spot by
Parley group of companies. Since, the beginning of cold drinks was highly profitable and
luring, many multinational companies launched their brands in India like Pepsi and Coke.
Cold drinks of different brands are composed of alcohol, carbohydrates, carbon dioxide,
phosphate ions, etc. These soft drinks give feeling of warmth, lightness and have a tangy
taste which is liked by everyone. The carbon dioxide gas is dissolved in water to form
carbonic acid which is also responsible for the tangy taste. Carbohydrates are the naturally
occurring organic compounds and are major source of energy to our body.

1. Title Of The Study And Introduction :
“A study on consumer brand preference of soft drinks”
A soft drink (also called soda, pop, coke, soda pop, fizzy drink, tonic, seltzer, mineral,
sparkling water, carbonated beverage) is a beverage that typically contains water (often, but not
always carbonated water), a sweetener and usually a flavoring agent. The sweetener may be
sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, fruit juice, sugar substitutes (in the case of diet drinks) or some
combination of these. Soft drinks may also contain caffeine, colorings, preservatives and other
ingredients. Soft drinks are called “soft” in contrast to “hard drinks” (alcoholic beverages).
Soft drinks may be served chilled or at room temperature, and some, such as Dr. Pepper, can
be served warm. The first marketed soft drinks in the Western world appeared in the 17th
century. They were made of water and lemon juice sweetened with honey. In 1676, the
Compagnie des Limonadiers of Paris was granted a monopoly for the sale of lemonade soft
drinks. Vendors carried tanks of lemonade on their backs and dispensed cups of the soft drink to
thirsty Parisians.

2. Need for the Study:


The primary objective of this screening is to help buyers in Yelahanka find brand
preference for soft drinks. This inspection by group can be very helpful in determining the
buyer’s vision, taste, satisfaction and improvement policy to learn about new policies and
understand how contracts are constructed.

3. Statement of the problem:

In the present market, there is more rivalry in the soda pop industry, compelling advertisers
to know/receive an assortment of market promoting instruments and strategies. The assembling
utilizes an assortment of media in various sorts of promotions. As we probably are aware the
consequences of challenge between the recently settled firms, businesses were growing quickly.
4. Objectives of the Study:

The major objective of this study is to identify the factors influencing the consumer brand
preference regarding soft drink. The study also attempts to accomplish the following objectives.

 To find out the factors that influences the consumer’s consumption of soft drinks.

 To determine the consumer’s perception on the taste, price, advertisements and celebrity
endorsements related to soft drinks products and brands.
 To find whether the consumers are aware regarding the adverse effect of soft drinks
concerning their health

5. Sampling :
 Sampling Size : Out of the total population, the sample taken among 100
respondents.

 Sampling Area : The research conducted at Yelahanka, Bangalore.

 Sample Method : The research made by the survey in every member of the population
has an equal chance of being selecting the employees. Sampling frame include the whole
population. So the sample type is simple random sampling.

Sources of Data Collection:


It is a process to collect the required data in different sources. It basically two types one is primary
and secondary data.

1. PRIMARY DATA: Data collected for the first time. This data was collected / prepared by a
questionnaire and people were asked to fill in randomly.

2. SECONDARY DATA: Means existing data. Information can be obtained through various
sources such as published books, articles and journals, websites etc.

The research conducted by using questionnaire through Google forms.

7. Plan of Analysis:
The plan of analysis refers to the outline of the research which helps to understand the
scope, tools, method and models used for the study. The plan of analysis for this study is
follows.
Pie chart method, based on hypothesis, SWOT analysis, Questionnaires and using above tools.
