SYMBOLISM
-Cassock symbolizes Padre Damaso because he serves as or represents most of the clergy
during their time, a cruel but a respectable one, who is being feared by everyone that also
conceals and disguises the yearnings of the flesh under the authority of the Church to get what
they want.

VALUES
- Padre Damaso was known as an arrogant individual and cruel priest. But what they did not
know that he has this quality of being a loving father that protects his children, because even
though he antagonizes Ibarra to prevent his marriage to Maria Clara, the reason behind it was
to protect and ensure a better life for his daughter because he cares about her so much. We are
longing and desiring for a father that protects us and do everything for us to be safe, and this
kind of values Padre Damaso has, motivates every father to do so.
