Chenault Aviation and Military Museum

Today, as every day, one of the best things you can do in Monroe, LA is to go and visit
the Chenault Aviation Military Museum. (CAMM)

"Northeast Louisiana has played an incredible role in aviation and military history. The
Chennault Aviation & Military Museum of Louisiana, Inc. is dedicated to preserving
that heritage and the first-person accounts of the men and women who contributed to
it." is a quote directly from the Friends of the Chenault Aviation Military Museum.

Are you aware of the rich aviation history steeped here? If so, then you have most likely
visited the CAMM. If not, then you need to go and visit the Chenault Aviation Military
Museum and learn about it My husband is from Toronto, ON Canada and the first time
he came down to visit me for two weeks, we went to the Museum and spent nearly
three hours there. From the outside, it appears so small, but once you get inside you
are taken back to yesteryear through the Military and Aviation history that surrounds
you.

My husband actually told the museum some information on one of the guns they had on
display (The Johnson Battle Rifle. The US Army did not accept it as it was designed by
a Marine and the Army would not accept such a rifle design. The rifle the Army did
accept, the M1 Garron had a lot of trouble and during the test, the manufacturer made
several test rifles with the same serial numbers. So when one rifle started to fail, the
could quietly replace it with another one.) I know that someone I once knew very well
donated a US Flag that was flown over Iraq during the Iraq War. Many, if not most all of
the pieces of history found there were donated by friends and families of those who
served in the Military both past and present and those involved in the Aviation History.

Monroe was the home of Claire Chenault, for whom this museum is dedicated to.
General Claire Chenault is best known for being leading the Flying Tigers during WWII
and for being a tactical genius whose methods are still taught today for Ariel Combat.
