FATHER OF AUDIOLOGY IS RAYMOND CARHART

Audiology- branch of science which deals with sense of hearing

Hearing – the power of perceiving sound specifically ; the special sense by which noises and tones are
received as stimuli

Perception – interpretation of sensory information in order to represent and understand the presented
information or environment

Intensity – magnitude of quantity (such as force or energy) per unit( time or mass)

Frequency- the rate per second of a vibration constituting a wave in either in material as (sound waves)
or in electromagnetic field as in ( radio waves and light)

Listening-Listening is defined as interpretation and receiving messages in communication process

Audiometry – It is the measurement of range and sensitivity of person's sense of hearing

Communication – communication is exchange of information between sender and receiver

Acoustic Analogies – These are applied mostly in numerical aeroacoustics to reduce aeroacoustic sound
sources to single emitter types

Sound – Vibrations that travel through air or any medium and can be heard when they reach ear

Noise -unwanted or loud sound that cause disturbance

Types of noise :

 Physical
 Psychological
 Physiological
 Semantic
