The Fishermen’s Cry

No lying down at the bottom any longer,

I tell you, my fisherman brothers

We must ascend breaking down all barriers.

The time is ripe enough, everyone is rising up

On the world stage; the porters, labourers,

We must ascend breaking down all barriers.

All the wretched of the earth growing conscious,

Everyone raising voice,

Why live in death and suffer all tortures?

We must ascend breaking down all barriers.

Brothers, so ill fated that

We couldn’t live on the land where born,

Lives drift on water,

Fighting with tempestuous weather.

Our oppressors, they entangle us

With new rules every day,

Like hawks, they snatch profit of ours

We must ascend breaking down all barriers.

Brother, we measure depths bottomless water

But, with many a good services

We fail to fathom minds of our master.

We swim deep down the bottomless water

To catch the best fish,

But now, we must catch in our net

The on land giants and monsters.

We dare swim under the perilous sea water

And fight with death;

With crocodiles, sharks and whales

We take our breath.

O! Brother, we are not afraid of enemies in water

We live and die with them,

A crocodile is better than a man

It doesn’t kill one for game.

Brother, we sail farthest water bodies,

To net fishes and earn our living;

Our oppressors cast their nets for us

In the markets neighbouring

Brother, we sail away everyday

Leavening our dearest among these ferocious men,

The fire in heart gets consumed by tears,

We must ascend breaking down all barriers.

We cut way though water very easily

And create rippling music under feet,

The strike of our oars can also cut

If the oppressors we meet.

We are not going to cast our small net alone

Come brother! Together, in thousands

And hold on the big net collectively,

Come with your countless oars on shoulders!

Come! Thou heroes of the wrestling field.

We cut fishes by our sharp cleavers

Now we’ll chop our inhuman oppressors,

We must ascend breaking down all barriers.
