ATTENTION AND PERCEPTION

LEVEL OF THE STUDENTS: A2

NUMBER OF STUDENTS: 8 SS’

TOPIC: CLOTHES.

The class begins in a L2 basic level classroom for A1, the teacher gives the greetings as usual and
does a little stand up to motivate the students, after that the teacher shows some flashcards with
clothing vocabulary, she says the word in order that the students listen the pronunciation and show
the drawing after that she asks her students to repeat it with her so they can practice the
pronunciation of each word and relate the sound and the image for this activity the images are big
and colorful with the purpose to capture the attention of the students at the end of the activity.

The teacher realized that not all her students were clear about the topic so she did another more
dynamic activity because she knows that each student has different perceptions,so the next activity
she used with the group was to teach the students how to say what I'm wearing and said the
following:

I AM WEARING A RED T-SHIRT, BLUE JEANS, AND A BLACK JACKET.

While she was describing what she was wearing, she touched the parts of her clothes, and then the
students had to repeat the same thing as her, she did another activity with one of her students who
stood in front of her and said the following:

SHE IS WEARING A ... and she was waiting until all the students participated, who began to describe
in a better way the things and the garment that they did not know they asked their teacher who
showed them the flashcards again with the purpose to have a better relationship and assimilation
with the vocabulary previously learned and taught.

At the end of the class the teacher did a little review where she could see that with both activities
the whole group could understand it well since it was stimulating the students' senses and working
their attention and perception but a little problem was presented at the beginning when flashcards
were shown to the pupils, but she was able fix it with the second activity, because the results were
better.
