ASSIGNMENT CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

1). - Intonation : The pitch of a person’s voice as it goes up an down.example : “do you want to the
park with me ?”.
- Word stress : the parts of a word or sentence that we put emphasis upon when speaking. Example :

-Clustering : we hear languange in tongue. A fluent speech is not word by word, but it is phrasal.
Example :” I, have, am, go, has, play and you”.

-Reduced form : words that are not written in English , but that are frequently used by native
speakers.
Example : Gonna, gotta, wanna, oughta= going to, got to,want to, ought to (“I’m gonna go to the
library”) .

2). - Imitative : Parroting is expected. It is simply the ability to parrot back a word or phrase or a
sentence. Example : word repetition task, test-takers hear : beat/bit , bat/vat. Scoring scale for
repetition tasks :
2 acceptable pronunciation
1 comprehensible, partially correct
0 silence, seriously incorrect.
- Interactive : Multiple Conversational exchanges are expected. These tasks require a long stretches of
discussion and are typically more interpersonal in nature.
Example :
Interviews : warm-up, level check, probe, wind down, role - plays games.

3). - Scanning : is a reading technique which is done by looking at the most important details of a text
in a quick manner. Allow readers to locate “ specific information” like names,dates, places, statistics, or
facts which are usually noticeable in a text. Skips a large section or part of a text. Ex : bus ticket,
wedding invittaion, pie graph.
- skimming : is also speed type of reading. Focuses on the “main idea” or “ general overview” of a text.
Compels readers to find the “topic sentence” which summarizes the whole text itself . doesn’t give
much attention to small details present in a text. Ex : reading newspaper, magazine, travel brochure.

4). -Controlled writing : to teach students the mechanics of writing accuracy and readiness for further.
Example : handwriting, copying, dictation and spelling.
Controlled writing tasks give students focused practie in :
- getting words down on paper
- concentrating on one or two problems at a time

- Real writing: every classroom writing task will have an element of display writing in it and it also will
have real writing in it and it also will have real writing elements :
a. academic
b. vocational/technical
c. personal
