Identification of suffixes
Complex suffixes often describe tests and treatments performed by health professionals.
When word roots act as noun the suffixes act as verbs describing the nouns. Even though
when it is convenient to place tests and treatment in the same category and categorize
them as procedures, the health professionals have deemed to distinguish every single
nuance in a medical word. This avoids the confusion for future references.

Suffix for the process of measuring is called –metry. It has originated from the Greek
word ‘metres’-‘metria (action)’-‘metry’.For example Audiometry test is a process done
to check the ability to hear sounds.
