D. 1. The imaginary line on which the earth spins is called its axis.

2. The fixed path in which the earth moves around the sun is called its
orbit. The earth’s axis of rotation is not straight but it is tilted
at an angle of 23.5 degrees.

3. The spinning movement of the earth about its axis is called rotation.
It takes 24 hours to complete one rotation, which is why there are 24 hours
in one day. Earth's rotation causes observable patterns like night and day.

4. The rotation of the earth causes day and night. As the earth rotates
the light from the sun shines on half of the Earth at any given time. That side
is warmer and brighter and this half observes daytime.
The other side of the Earth faces away from the sun (it’s dark) so it is cooler
and darker and this half observes night time.

5. The movement of the earth around the sun in its fixed path is called
revolution. Earth takes 365 days, 6 hours, 9 minutes to complete one
revolution around the Sun.

6.The revolution of the earth and the tilt of its axis, together cause
different seasons. So as the Earth is orbiting the Sun, the tilted axis
pointed in the same direction. So different parts of Earth get the Sun’s
direct rays as we travel through the year..
The Northern Hemisphere is tilted away from the Sun from
September to March. That means the northern half of the planet
doesn’t get as much light and heat from the Sun. This causes
autumn and winter.
During the same months, the Southern Hemisphere is tilted towards
the Sun. That means the southern half of the planet gets spring and
summer.

7.
As the earth rotates the light from the sun shines on half of the Earth at any
given time. That side is warmer and brighter and this half observes daytime.
The other side of the Earth faces away from the sun (it’s dark) so it is cooler
and darker and this half observes night time.
