The Ancient Egyptians wore clothing made from linen. Linen is a light and cool
fabric that worked well in the hot climate of Egypt. The Egyptians made linen from the
fibers of the flax plant. Workers used spin the fibers into thread that then used to be
woven into linen fabric using looms.

Wealthy people whose sandals were made from leather ,used to wear very soft
linen clothes made from thin fibers. Peasants and people who were poor used to
wear rougher linen clothing and sandals made from woven grass.

Very little sewing was done to items as most clothing was wrapped around and
then held on with a belt. Also, the styles were generally the same for both the rich and
the poor. Men used to wear wrap-around skirts similar to a kilt while women typically
used to wear a long wrap-around dress which went down to their ankles. Dresses
varied in style .They didn’t often use to have sleeves and sometimes beads or
feathers were used to decorate them.
