Document Development Exposition: White Paper

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
When I first started to plan this white paper, I was lost. I knew it had to be on the Reaktion book I
read, fire, but I just couldn’t think of any problem-solution issue I can write about. After re-reading
part of the book, I found what I wanted to write about, Air pollution. After settling on my topic, I did
some research on the issue and made a rough outline of what I want different paragraphs to be
about and how many main topics I want to cover.

First Draft (for peer editing)

Going into the first draft, I was unsure how much color there needed to be in the document and how
many sub-sections there needed to be. For the color I decided I should stick with 2 shades of green
(for green environment) for heading and subheading. When it came to the structure, I decided to
break-down the sub-sections into what made sense for the sections that it was part of.

Second Draft (for your packet)

After getting back peer-reviews, I learned that I should probably add more images, so I added a cover
image and a figure that went along with a paragraph. I also cleaned up some of the grammar
mistakes and some spelling mistakes. I also fixed some paragraphs, so it had a better flow.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

After receiving revisions, I learned to fix some grammatical mistakes, add a little more to my abstract.
I also added one more figure which helped with the information on one of the paragraphs, as well as
decreased the space after a paragraph and added a sentence or two after the heading where
previously I had nothing. Overall, I had to fix some grammatical and spelling mistakes, and polish
some of the design aspect of the document.
