Question:
4. What do you know relative clauses ?
A relative clause is a clause that usually modifies a noun or noun phrase
and is introduced by a relative pronoun (which, that, who, whom,
which), a related adverb ( where, when, why), or a relative. Also known
as an adjective clause, an adjective clause, and relative construction. A
relative clause is a postmodifier - that is, it comes after the noun or
noun phrase it modifies.

There are 2 types of relative clauses:

+ Defining relative clauses: - A clause used to determine the

noun before it, necessary for the meaning of the sentence; Without it
the sentence wouldn't make enough sense. All relative pronouns are
used in defining clauses.

For example:

Do you know the name of the man who came here yesterday?

The man (whom / that) you met yesterday is coming to my
house for dinner.

+ Non – defining clauses: - A clause that provides more

information about a person or thing, without it, the sentence is
still meaningful.

For example:

Miss Hoa, who taught me English, has just got married.

- And how to identify noun clauses ?

Because noun clauses can appear almost anywhere in a sentence, they
can be tricky to spot. One of the easiest ways to spot a noun clause is to
look for these words: how that what whatever when where whether
which whichever who whoever whom whomever why While these
words can be found in clauses other than noun clauses, noun clauses
almost always start with one of these words. They’re another clue to
finding a noun clause in a sentence.
For example:

Carlie's problem was that she didn't practice enough.

Harry's crowning achievement at school was when he became class

president.

Darla's excuse for being late was that she forgot to set her alarm.

Harry is not the best provider of what Margie needs.

Josephine is not responsible for what Alex decided to do.

Allie’s research report is about how Marie Curie discovered radium.
