CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION

This experiment is to relate the Hess’s law with the three exothermic reaction by
using sodium hydroxide. Therefore, referred to the previous results, the heat of the reaction or
enthalpy change, ∆H for heat of NaOH solution, ∆H1 and heat of NaOH neutralization, ∆H2
are 33.40 and 22.92 in kJ/mol. While, heat of NaOH solution, ∆H 3 is 56.34kJ/mol. Since, this
experiment was mentioned about exothermic reaction the values will be -33.40 kJ/mol,
-22.94 kJ/mol and -56.34kJ/mol which shown that, the heat energy for three reactions were
released to the surrounding. Related to Hess’s law, ∆H 3 is the result of combination of two
series of exothermic reactions which are ∆H 1 and ∆H2. It can be deduced that the series of the
reaction in this experiment was able to calculate by sum up ∆H1 and ∆H2.

There was recommendation to for this experiment is in the future is replace the
sodium hydroxide to another chemical and use two or three different type make comparison.
Lastly, create a comparison between exothermic and endothermic reactions relates with
Hess’s law.
