Case # 02

The first half

since the start of experiment, conductance is low because acetic acid is a weak acid
and its dissociation is slow which is responsible for low conductance

The second half

At second half of reaction, conductance is decreasing in a controlled manner because
the ionization of acetic acid results in acetate ions( CH3COO− ) and NaOH dissociates
into Na+ and OH-
Which results in the formation of sodium acetate (NaCOOH).since most of the freely
moving ions are utilized in the salt formation, so the availability of free moving ions is
very low hence, decreasing the conductance.

EQUATIONs
CH3COOH ⇌ CH3COO− + H+
NaOH ⇌ OH- + Na+

NaOH + CH3COOH ➝ CH3COONa + H20

The third half
When all the acetic acid is used up in the product formation , equivalent point is
achieved and now the addition of base (NaOH) causes dissociation into Na+ and OH-
both of them are freely moveable ions that causes increase in the conductance, hence
raising the curve upward after achieving the equivalent point .
