ASSIGNMENT 3.3

REACTION PAPER

BASICS OF ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION

The video “What is Modulation? Why is Modulation Required? Types of Modulation

Explained” by the channel ALL ABOUT ELECTRONICS in YouTube discussed the
fundamentals of Modulation. Starting again from the definition of communication just like the
other videos, up to the three basic properties a signal. From there the presenter now transitions
the discussion onto the Modulation which is the main topic.

It has been said in the video that modulation is the process where one of the properties
of the carrier signal (amplitude, frequency, and phase) is changed according to the baseband
signal. Next thing that the presenter discussed in this presentation is Why Modulation is used?
Well he has given us some points; first, to reduce the antenna size; secondly, to reduce the
interference; lastly, to allow multiplexing of the signals.

From there, the type of modulation is introduced, I can say that the usage of diagram
really helped me visualize the connection and the categorization of the types of the modulations,
more over help me differentiates them easier.

The topic may have too much to absorb, the numbers of concept that must be quite
overwhelming but the way that the presenter presents all of these, I can say that it was very
helpful to me. His usage of pictures and diagram to differentiates the different type of
modulation makes it easier to remember and to master.

Yes, the topic may be confusing and overwhelming, but with proper representation and
would be given a plenty of time to study, it would surely become easy for us to digest.
