Natural disasters are one of the common yet drastic news in the Philippines.

Severe floodings in every year causes extreme damages to certain regions inn
the Philippines. As an archipelago existing, it has long experienced natural
disasters in the most tragic and unexpected ways. Typhoons, landslides, forest
fires, volcano eruptions, earthquakes, droughts, and the recent, COVID-19 has
shown the two opposite clashes of humanity and environment.

The natural disasters are one of the biggest events often broadcasted on
every television. It has always threatened the lies of the people and even the
political stability of the country. This global concern also poses huge warning
to organisms living within the environment. The value of damages from natural
disasters are often estimated to more 10 trillion pesos cost in the Philippines.

Processes and scientific studies were conducted to locate cause sof natural
disasters and it has led to the reason of climate change. NASA’s(National
Aeronautics and Space Administration) definition on climate change is “a
broad range of global phenomena created predominantly by burning fossil
fuels, which add heat-trapping gases to Earth’s atmosphere. These
phenomena include the increased temperature trends described by global
warming, but also encompass changes such as sea-level rise; ice mass loss in
Greenland, Antarctica, the Arctic and mountain glaciers worldwide; shifts in
flower/plant blooming; and extreme weather events.”

Yet in layman’s term ,climate change is the climate transformation of

characterized in terms of temperature, precipitation, wind movement, and
rock breakage that were caused by rampant and excessive human activities.
As a result, because of this, the natural phenomenon are considered “natural”
since it cannot be undone.

As a result, balancing the sustainability of the ecosystem and natural disasters

were quite difficult and a threat to the stability of our planet. However to
counter the irreversible natural disasters, managements such as
DRRM(Disaster Risk Reduction and Management) ,PHIVOLCS( Philippine
Volcanology and Seismology), Fire Safety and Prevention Seminars are often
and timely conducted in the archipelago.

Overall, sustainable development has grown in the country for the further
years. Research laboratories and scientific studies are now the priorities and
being funded by the government in assurance to take the precautionary
measures against the events regarding natural disasters..
