NATIONAL EARTHQUAKE DRILL
NARRATIVE AND PICTORIAL REPORT
I. INTRODUCTION

The school, as potent venue for meaningful learning, actively joined the National Earthquake Drill to increase
awareness and preparedness among learners, teachers and school officials in times of tremors. The activity was done last June
29, 2017.

II. HIGHLIGHTS OF ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

Altavista Elementary School took its part by undertaking the following activities:
 Lecture Demo about Earthquake: Origins and its Effects
The learners attended a crash course on the following topics: Origins of Earthquakes, The Difference
Between Magnitude and Intensity, and What To Do Before, During, and After an Earthquake.
 Earthquake Drill
Right after the lecture, the learners and teachers went back to their classrooms. The bell suddenly rang
signaling the earthquake drill. All learners and teachers performed the Drop, Cover, and Hold. When the ringing
stopped, they all went out to the safe area in a single line formation with the teacher at the tail-end. Upon reaching the
safe area, teachers did a headcount of all the learners under their class and checked for learners who need first-aid
treatment. Those who need treatment were treated by the First-Aid Teacher. After the drill, teachers did a quick
processing regarding the activity and reinforced the lecture.
