Signal to any of the Helideck monitor solenoids from the F&G system will also provide a start signal to the FWD foam pump system. Note: Upon releasing a deluge-skid or monitor, this will open the foam supply-valve for this unit. Start of foam-pumps will thereby feed all released users of foam. Hot-Foam System Philosophy 3.1 The Hot-Foam System The Hot-foam system consists of two independent freshwater systems, one FWD and one AFT, * AFT Hot foam pump system: 100 m*/h @ 15.0 barg, tag number 71-10-00 PA108 * FWD Hot foam pump system: 200 m’/h @ 13.5 barg, tag number 71-10-00 PA106 The Hot-Foam systems are monitored by the following Pressure and level transmitters. 71-10-00-PT103 (forward freshwater pump discharge pressure) 71-10-00-LT101 (forward freshwater tank level), 71-10-00-PT 106 (Aft freshwater pump discharge pressure). 71-10-00-LT102 (AFT freshwater tank level). 3.1.1 Hot-Foam System Start Sequence 1. The Hot Foam system is a manual-operated system. 2. The signal (via F&G) from the manual release stations (push-buttons) located outside each space (entrance) should automatically release the Hot Foam system to the dedicated space. The reason is that a confirmation of fire by the fire crew is enough “evidence” for requiring Hot Foam. Additionally, it is not desired to introduce a “second human in the release loop” introducing delay and potential misunderstanding 3. Alll the Machinery Category A spaces requiring Hot Foam protection are normally un- manned areas. The fire detection system (fire/smoke detectors) in the room will provide detector-signals to the F&G system informing the CCR room about a fire or “potential” fire in a Machinery Category A space. The next step is to send the fire crew, capable of communicating with the CCR, to the actual Machinery A room for checking. ~Small’ fire => manual extinguishing (by fire hydrant or portable extinguishers) ~'Big’ fire = Confirmation of fire, release the Hot Foam System (by the start push-button). Push button signal to F&G gives automatically signal to the dedicated solenoid valve, which starts the freshwater pump to release water into the desired machinery category A Norfass Referonce: 1346135_02F coo Document No. 1346-135 Project Doc. Simultaneously warning with lights and audible alarms are given to alarm the crew. 2 minutes' time delay is built-into the system and gives automatically signal to the dedicated solenoid valve to release foam. The ventilation exhaust damper is opened at say this juncture to prevent overpressurization of foam during foam build-up. - Confirmation of extinguished fire stops releasing both water and foam (by stopping the freshwater pump from F & G-panel). Additionally, provision for manual release and stop at the Hot foam skid is available. The Hot Foam system philosophy and tests are based on applying water for 2 minutes before applying foam. By applying water only, a general cooling effect is obtained. Adding foam will then provide an expanded Hot Foam solution effectively extinguishing any fire. If either the AFT or the FWD freshwater pumps fail to develop pressure, the manual sea water emergency connection valve must be opened. If tank level low low alarm is reached, stop running the pumps. The high pressure settings (confirmed developed Hot foam pump pressure) are the following: 71-10-00-PT106: 13.0 barg (AFT) 71-10-00-PT103: 14.0 barg (FWD) The low low pressure settings (empty freshwater tank): 71-10-00-LT101 (forward pump header): 200 mm 71-10-00-LT102 (Aft pump header): 200 mm. Galley Hood CO, System Philosophy By activating the manual release push button 72-50-00-HS001, a signal to F&G is given. Dampers and exhaust ventilation will then be closed. Visual and audible alarms (72-50-00- XA002 & 72-50-00-XA001) is activated to alarm the crew. After a certain time delay, release of CO, begins by signal to solenoid valve 72-50-00-XY001. Confirmation of released CO, by pressure transmitter signal (72-50-00-PT001) to F&G. 4.1 General Refer to the instrument list and Automation list for complete tag number and I/O list reference, Document $4-231021 Norfass Reference: 1946195_02F.doc
