Welcome to my List Building Blueprint...

What I've done in this Blueprint PDF is boil down the essence of everything that I've
learned about building responsive email lists (and making money from them)
since I started out 17 years ago. This is my working "mind map" of the entire
process.

It’s pretty crazy - when I started building my first email list so many years ago, I never
could have dreamed that one day I would be teaching it to tens of thousands of
entrepreneurs in all kinds of different businesses.

I was just working away in my little one-person, home-based business in a little niche
market. I was a stay-at-home dad, and I was desperate to somehow make a little bit
of extra cash to help support my family.

And for some reason, even way back in the 90's, I just intuitively realized that getting
someone to visit my web site wasn't going to do me any good - I needed to get
them to join my email list.

And that one thought - that I always needed to focus on building my list - has made
all the difference.

The results came slowly at first... I would get one new person on my list every three
or four days. Then that slowly increased until I was averaging one new subscriber
per day. And then that built up to three per day, then 10 per day, then 30 per day...

And all of a sudden I was in business. I was adding nearly 1,000 subscribers per
month, and I "suddenly" had some serious marketing power. It was like I had the
keys to the kingdom - and I could generate traffic and sales every time I sent
out an email.

It was literally a "cash-on-demand" situation... and frankly, I was completely amazed.

And I want you to experience that same power.

The funny thing is, when I started I had no marketing or sales experience. I just
started doing things my way - and I figured that everyone else must be doing the
same things I was doing. Little did I know that the results I was getting were
WAY beyond normal...

Eventually, when I realized that my results were definitely NOT typical, I started
teaching my methods... that was around 2005. First it was just for a few friends, and
then eventually to the general public. Along the way I started teaching my "Product
Launch Formula", and that literally changed the way stuff is sold online. (I know that
last part sounds crazy, and it's almost hard for me to say it since I try to stay hum-
ble... but it is what it is.)

Fast forward to today... and it's shocking, but since I started teaching people how
to build their businesses online my students and clients have done more than
$400 million in sales. That’s 400 freaking MILLION dollars!

I still can’t believe this all started from my homemade desk that was jammed into the
corner of the baby’s changing room!

It’s been really cool watching my students succeed in almost every market you can
think of, including a bunch of markets that I had never even heard of ...

I’m talking about everything from "handwriting analysis" to "tax preparation" to "pet
first aid" to "how to write a novel" to "horse ballet" to "holstein cow embryos" to
"marching band accessories" to "coaching youth soccer" to "business coaching in
Poland"... and on and on and on.

And I never would have imagined that people would be using my stuff all over the
world... from Europe and the UK to Asia to Africa to South and Central America...
and of course in Australia and New Zealand. And obviously... in the U.S.A., Canada,
and Mexico.

The funny thing is that this all started out with one thought - that above all
else, I needed to focus on getting people to join my email list. That the power
was in the list, and in my relationship with that list...

Who could have imagined where that thought would lead to?

It’s been a wild ride, and I’ve been very blessed to be able to share my work with so
many amazing entrepreneurs. I love teaching this stuff and I love helping entrepre-
neurs start and grow their businesses.

(And I especially love it when people are able to start a business and quit their jobs –
those are the all-time favorite emails that I receive!)

Recommended Resources

Aweber - the most important decision you will make when you start building your list is what
service you will use to host your list. This is a big decision because 1) it will make a big dif-
ference in the results you get from your list, and 2) it's a pain-in-the-neck to change list
hosts... so you want to make the right decision from the start.

I'm going to make your decision easy for you - you should use Aweber.

I've been personally using Aweber since 2003. I use them because they are fast, reliable,
very inexpensive to get started, and MOST IMPORTANTLY they get your email delivered.

Unfortunately, not all list hosts will get your email delivered very well. Your service needs to
have an excellent reputation with the various email service providers (ESP) such as Gmail.
If you don't use the right list host, your email can end up in the spam box - which means all
your list building efforts go to waste.

Aweber has a fantastic reputation with the various ESP's, so in my experience their deliver-
ability is best-in-class. Again, this is a big decision, but I'm going to make it easy for you, go
sign up with Aweber.

Office Autopilot - this is another great list host that I use for some of my projects. It's more
of a "Cadillac solution" - it costs a lot more, but it also includes a shopping cart, affiliate
management, and lots of other features. It's a great solution, and my team and I really love
it. If you're trying to decide between Aweber and Office Autopilot... Aweber is the right solu-
tion if you're starting out. If you're super-advanced and you have the budget, then it's worth
comparing Aweber and Office Autopilot.

Wordpress - for blogs and web sites, Wordpress is an amazingly versatile tool. My blogs
are built on Wordpress.

Kajabi - great for squeeze pages, video hosting, automated launch funnels, and building
video courses. I use this for all my online courses, and my team uses this literally every sin-
gle day.

SurveyMonkey - I love to use surveys to learn more about the people on my list, and
SurveyMonkey is a great tool that makes this incredibly simple. I've been using
SurveyMonkey since 2003!
Dropbox - an incredibly awesome tool for managing your documents. I've been using it for
years to keep my files backed up and synced between my two computers. I don't know how
I lived without it.

Recommended Resources

Amazon S3 - run by Amazon, this is great for hosting your video and audio files... however,
it's pretty difficult to use. Definitely for techies, so you'll want to use ezS3 to make it a lot
more usable.

ezS3 - this service makes Amazon S3 a lot more user-friendly. And when I say a lot more
friendly, I mean a LOT more.

Evernote - an amazing tool that's great for keeping track of everything. I use it to keep track
of ideas for emails I want to send to my list.

Instant Teleseminar - teleseminar and webinar host that I've been using since 2008. Great
features, great pricing.

FreeConferenceCalling.com - free conference lines, great for doing teleseminars for your
list or recording interviews with people.

Accuconference - a high-end conference call host. Expensive, but they've got some nice
features.

Disk.com - a great source to get CDs and DVDs duplicated and shipped. I've been using
them since 2005.

YouSendIt.com - great for sending large files to other people. If you're going to be working
with a team of outsourcers, this is the way we send files back and forth. I love this tool.

Team Tools - for team coordination we use or have used Asana.com, CentralDesktop.com,
and Basecamp.com. They all have their pluses and minuses, and which one is right for you
will depend on your exact situation.

Web Hosting - we've used lots of hosts over the years, but right now we're mostly using
Rackspace Cloud, StormOnDemand.com, and Bluehost.com.

Please note: I only recommend stuff that I use and find useful. I've been in this business so
long that I've gotten to try out most of the stuff that's out there... so I thought this short re-
source list would help you benefit from my experience (and battle scars.) Some of those
links are affiliate links - and I will get a commission if you sign up through them. But I would
never recommend something that I don't believe in - because my business is based on my
reputation, and making lousy recommendations would kill that reputation in a heartbeat. Not
to mention that it would just be really lame. ;-)

My Final Thoughts on You and Your List...

I truly hope that this Blueprint has opened your eyes to a whole new way of thinking about
your business and your marketing. Because once you start to put these strategies and
tactics into your business, then life will never be the same again for you. You will have
a level of freedom and control over your finances and your lifestyle that you never dreamed
of...

So now the important thing is for you to get started... because that's the place where I've
seen most people get stuck. Once you actually start to build your list, and you start to see
those subscribers come in (no matter how slowly it starts), then you are on your way.

Remember that no one starts with a big list. And that every list starts with the very
first subscriber. That's how all of my lists started - with subscriber #1. And even starting
with that very first subscriber, I've been able to build lists of tens of thousands of subscrib-
ers... and I've done it over and over, and in multiple markets.

It's not because I've got some magical skill - it's only because I followed the exact process
that I shared with you in this Blueprint. I started at the beginning and built from there.

So if you’re ready to take control of your marketing, your business, your life... then it's time
to start building your list. It’s time to take control.

Once you shift your focus to building and nurturing your list, you're starting to build
a REAL business... and YOU are now in the driver’s seat. Now you can make the in-
come and impact that you really want.
