 PURPOSE OF THE RESEARCH TOPIC

The purpose of the research paper is to outline the contribution of one of the
freedom fighter who fought for the freedom of the nation. The main topic which I
choose is of a freedom fighter who is basically from my state Karnataka here he
is revered as a man who fought for the integrity of the state and protect kittur a
province in Karnataka from the shackles of the british occupation the overall
structure of the research paper is to outline the various issues and objectives of the
history the freedom struggle and fight for the blood etc where the research paper
revolves around these basic arenas of the topic . To briefly outline of about the
topic sangolli rayanna he was A remarkable warrior from Karnataka, Rayanna was
born on 15 August 1798. As the army chief of the Kingdom of Kittur, he fought
the British East India Company until his last breath. He mobilized local people and
started a guerilla type war against the British the guerilla warfare was one among
the most excelled he was in he had almost stunned by his warfare practice that
britishers had planned a same trick on him to capture however he was captured and
sent to britishers court where he was given death sentence one intresting thing to
note is that his defence in the court against his crime is still considered as one of
the best speeches given by freedom fighters but at the end Rayanna was executed
by hanging to death from a Banyan tree.

 Relevance and Objectives of research topic
The topic has been choosen as a part of the freedom fighter from your
state so the first choice for me and anyone from Karnataka would be
krantiveera sangolli rayanna the forgotten legend was a great warrior
and one who is known to not have bent even when he was brought to
gallows to give a outline about the legend he was born on 15 th august
1798 he got his name sangolli as the native place he was born he became
the chief of the army of kittur rani chennama who played a prominent
role in the battle against British East India Company.
He was told to be an eminent chief and his training yielded Kittur Rani
Chennamma’s army to be one of the strongest sangolli Rayanna initially
started his fight with the British for his queen Kittur Chennamma who
wanted her adopted son Shivalingappa on the throne, since the king of
Kittur had passed away and it was ruled by the King’s widow with no
heir. However the British wanted to annex the kingdom following their
infamous rule “Doctrine of Lapse” by Dalhousie according to which a
kingdom with no heir will fall under British rule and the rulers were not
allowed to hand over their kingdom to an adopted heir as well so later
the adamant britishers captured rani chennama and he went to exile and
prepared to fight back along with shivalingappa later with britishers

I have made secondary research as a method of research for this paper
on freedom fighters of our state I will refer to various other sources as
in books and in fact movies if knowledge for the research paper infact
there are many resources in hand and may be beneficial for the final
submission of the research paper the relevant materials for the paper will
be found in books example BAALEKUNDADA KOLLADAAGONDU
GANDUHULI VEERA SANGOLLI by pradeep rokhade where the
entire history of sangolli rayanna’s struggle for the conquest is
underlined and given succinctly to represent the hero so I will be going
through various other materials online for research paper.
