 Students will be able to understand the responsibility that comes with knowing and

using cyber security principles.

 Students will be able to understand cyber bullying, and how to deal effectively with

these issues.
What Is Cyberbullying
`Cyberbullying or Cyber harassment is a form of bullying or harassment using electronic
means. Cyberbullying and cyber harassment are also known as online bullying. It has become
increasingly common, especially among teenagers. Cyberbullying is when someone, bully or
harass others on the internet, particularly on social media sites. Cyberbullying takes place
over digital devices like cell phones, computers and tablets. Harmful bullying behavior can
include posting rumors, threats, a victims' personal information, or pejorative labels.

Victims may experience lower self-esteem, and a variety of negative emotional responses,
including being scared, frustration. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into unlawful or
criminal behavior.

The most common places where cyberbullying occurs are:


 Social Media, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter
 SMS (Short Message Service) also known as Text Message sent through devices
 Instant Message (via devices, email provider services, apps, and social media
messaging features)
 Email
 During playing online games

UNICEF report on cyberbullying in Pakistan


With over 100 million users of smartphones in Pakistan, Pakistan has been included in the list
of the fastest-growing countries that are using the internet which only opens the doors for the
fact that cyberbullying is increasing as well. Islamabad, Pakistan - 5 February 2019: UNICEF
warned today of the dangers posed by online violence, cyberbullying and digital harassment
for a large number of young people aged between 15 to 24 years who are online in Pakistan
and called for concerted action to tackle and prevent violence against children and young
people.

Laws and Sanctions


Pakistan: National Assembly Passes New Cybercrime Law on August 11, 2016, Pakistan’s
lower house, the National Assembly, passed a controversial cybercrime law called the
Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.

The Senate had unanimously passed the law, with a number of amendments, in July. (Raza
Khan, Cyber Crime Bill Passed by NA: 13 Reasons Pakistanis Should Be Worried. The
President of Pakistan gave his assent to the legislation on August 18, 2016. (Archive:

There are some other ways to report the issues of cyberbullying

1. Register a complaint through FIA

Simply write down your application (in English or in Urdu), narrate your complete problem,
provide as much evidences, details as you can and send it to FIA National Response Center
for Cyber Crimes (NR3C).
2. Lodge a report via IC3

The IC3 accepts online Internet crime complaints from either the actual victim or from a third
party to the complainant. Check out their website to see how to report.

3. CPLC to the rescue!

The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) has set up a women complaint cell aimed at
dealing with women harassment issues across the country. Complaints can be made on these
numbers: 021-35662222, 021-35682222.

WHAT ARE CYBER ETHICS

Cyber ethics is a code of behavior for using the internet.

Some of the ethics and rules that individuals should follow while using digital devices.

1) Use the internet ethically.


2) Do not use rude or offensive language.
3) Do not be a bully on the internet.
4) Do not break into someone else’s computer
5) Always respect copyright laws and policies.
6) Never ask for personal information. Respect the privacy of others, just as you expect
the same from others.
7) do not access files without the permission of the owner.

Some specific rules regarding internet safety for students.

Never give out personal information (including your name, home address, phone number,
age, family, school name or location). Do not share your password even with friends.
