Proposal
When we are in the grocery store shopping for steaks or chicken for dinner that night,
what are we thinking about? Money, if I had to guess I would say most people purchasing meat
‘would try to get the most bang for their buck. Why is this a problem? This is a problem because
these cheap meats are coming from factory farms, farms that house animals with hardly any
room to move, animals that have never seen the daylight and animals that have been pumped
with fillers and hormones to make them fatter. I'd like to make people who look at meat as just a
price at the grocery store, something more.
I think if we put the information out there for people to know what they are eating, then
‘maybe they will think twice, I would like to raise awareness for the inhumane living conditions
these poor animals are put through everyday and how terrible this food is for us to consume.
Handing out flyers at your local grocery stores or posting informative articles on social media is
the best way J can think of reaching out to everyone. I plan to put up flyers for an informative
day to be hosted outside a local store of my choosing. I want to bring some of our local farmers.
and pricing of their products to hand out to people. So we can have volunteers speaking with
people about the harmful factory farms and then we have the local farmers there to promote their
business.
In return, we will be helping our local farmers which, will help our economy
tremendously, nutritionally be more beneficial for us and will ereate a more humane lifestyle for
the animals that feed us every day. Even if this only changes a few people’s minds on where theybuy their meat it is a start. Every animal life matters and the more popular local farms become I
hope to one day see then end of factory farms and the constant use of local farms.NO MORE

We had a group of volunteers and local farmers outside of the downtown Smiths location
to promote and inform people the benefits of buying local meat rather than, meat produced in
factory farms, This is a popular grocery store with a wide range of people. Posting flyers around
all the local grocery stores prior was important because the people who saw them and wanted to
get the information were able to plan on coming. I chose to do it on a weekend so that it would
be a busy time at the store and we can speak to people on their way to shop. Having local
farmers there to give out their pricing and nutritional info was a key factor in getting people to
really listen, Some people didn’t want to be bothered but others truly wanted to know what they
were eating, A lot of people did not realize that these animals were being raised inhumanely and
filled with hormones.
‘We are hoping to see an increase in local meat being sold. Farmers in the area had
.es to what you could find in the store. They also drop the prices the more you
comparable pi
buy. These animals are grass fed and living a completely organic lifestyle. Everyone that took
interest was pleased to hear about what the local farms had to offer.
Overall, I think that putting the information out there to the public is the most important
thing you can do, Raising awareness for the benefit of the animals is always worth every minute
of time spent, My next step I would like to make is to promote local farms in the stores. We can
start by speaking with corporate of smaller chains to try to get our local meats in store. | think
this will honestly take everything to the next level because it will help out small businesses grow
within our larger corporations.
