- A common abnormality of the tongue is Ankyloglossia a.k.a "tongue tie". It is when the lingual
frenulum fuses the tongue to the floor of the mouth disabling it to move freely. Uranoschisis is a
common abnormality of the hard palate causing a longitudinal fissure on the upper lip and palate.
