INTRODUCTION TO HEALTH, HYGIENE AND SAFETY, AND CREATIVE ARTS

Brief Overview

Two key areas are being presented in this unit. First, the student of ECCE are given an early introduction
to their health, hygiene and safety. Second, young kids are encouraged for creative arts.

The competencies regarding ‘health, hygiene and safety’ to be targeted are as under:

 understanding of the importance of healthy, safe and hygienic practices


 understanding of personal safety and security

while the competencies regarding ‘creative arts’ to be focused are as under:

 express themselves through the use of drawings and colors


 low cost and no cost/ waste material to create crafts/projects of their choice
 variety of materials to represent their observations and imagination, in the form of
models/sculptures
 observe, practice and explore various techniques of folding, cutting, pasting, tearing and
weaving paper to make objects and patterns
 identify and appreciate a variety of sound patterns, rhythms and rhymes as a form of expression
 participate with increasing confidence in a variety of dramatic play activities to express
themselves

Outcomes of the session

After this session, you will be able to:

 Explain the concepts relating to the Health, Hygiene and Safety, and Creative Arts
 Explore teaching strategies to make students acquainted with health, hygiene and safety, and
develop creative arts
