Test Procedure A 10-kg object falls from a height of 2.5 meters onto a pre-stretched length of belting. The belting is supported by an idler on the spot where the weight drops onto the belt, After each impact. the remaining tensile strength of the belt is measured as a percentage of the original tensile strength DIAMOFLEX TEST og 25m 1 l testpiece n idler TEST RESULTS belttype 500/4 500/5 0/3 ‘remaining tensile strength aftertblow 69% 18% rr after2blows 34% sox Ea The result clearly shows that the DiamoFlex belt has a much higher impact resistance than a regular 4 or 5-ply belt of equal tensile strength due to the superior impact absorption qualities of the thick inner layer. The purpose of the rubber covers is to protect the carcass. The quality of the covers depends on the application of the conveyor belt. The carcass consists of a number of plies of reinforcement, which are separated by rubber layers. REINFORCEMENT MATERIALS There is a range of basic materials suitable for beltreinforcement. The most effective combination is polyester yarns(E) in the warp direction, and nylon yarns(P) in the weft direction. Belting tetiles using this construction have been designated as EP fabrics. EP FABRICS EP fabrics are especially suitabl of high tension and impact. They are highly for absorption resistant to chemicals, impervious to mois! and have low elongation at high working The fabrics are classified according to their longitudinal tensile strength. Fabric strengths of 63 N/mm up to 630 N/mm are available. re, ress, TOP COVER The top cover (upper side of the belt) provides protection for the carcass. Selection of cover quality. thickness and profile depend on the working conditions and the material to be conveyed. TOP COVER SURFACE The surface of the top cover can be smooth or profiled depending on the material conveyed and the conveyor's angle of incline. THICKNESS The thickness of the top cover depends on the type of materials and the service conditions (type of load incline angle, fall height, etc). The thickness ratio between top and bottom cover should be 3:2 at a maximum) BOTTOM COVER The bottom cover protects the inner part of the carcass. Its thickness is about 30 - 50% of the top ekness. For use on sliders, the bottom cover consists of low friction fabric. BELT EDGES Conveyor belts can be supplied with either molded (rubber) edges or cut (sealed) edg Fullsynthetic carcasses do nol require molded edges except for chemical resistance.
