2017111107 SMCs - 3133 Specifications Relief Valve (Torque Converter Inlet) Pressure - Test (RENR8224) 107223731 WARNING Hydraulic oll pressure can remain in the hydraulic system on. this machine after the engine and pump have been stopped. ‘Serious injury can result f this pressure Is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic systems. In order to pprovent possible injury, release the hydraulic system pressure ‘before working on any fitting, hose, or hydraulic component. Lower all attachments to the ground before service is started. If the hydraulic system must be serviced, tested, or adjusted with the attachment in the raised position, the attachments ang lift cylinders must be supported properly. ‘Always move the machine to @ location away fromthe travel of ‘other machines. Be sure that other personnel are not near the ‘machine when the engine is running and tests or adjustments, are being made. NOTICE Caro must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during porformance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine, Be prepared to collect the fluid with ‘suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Dispose of all fuids according to local regulations and mandates. D117 Pressure Test for the Torque Converter Inlet Relief Valve Date Item Product or Component SN Specification | Actual INLET RELIEF - HIGH IDLE Neutral with Service Brake - OFF 1208 kPa (175 psi) Parking Brake - Engaged. Check at pressure tap (M). Table Introduction ‘The torque converter inet relief valve limits the maximum pressure to the torque converter section of the torque divider, The torque converter inlet relief valve also prevents damage to the torque converter when the engine is started and the power train oils cold The folowing test will check the maximum pressure of the power train oll that is delivered tothe torque converter section of the torque divider. The pressure setting of the torque converter inlet relief valve is not adjustable. Altach (T1) to pressure tap (M), Test Procedure 1. Do not warm the power train oil 2. Start the engine, Note: You will only achieve these results if the power train ollis less than 40 °C (104 “F. 3. Make sure thatthe parking brake is engaged. Operate the engine starting at LOW IDLE and slowly increase the engine rpm. 4, Watch the pressure at Tooling (1). The pressure should rise with the engine rpm. The pressure should nat exceed 1205 kPa (175 psi). 5. Continue raising the engine rpm until reaching HIGH IDLE. 6. The torque converter init relief valve isnot adjustable. If the pressure continus to rise above 1205 kPa (175 psi), check fo restrictions, or replace the transmission control valve. Note: The torque converter init relief valve isa function of the transmission control ratio valve, GEBI-UP, TPB1-UP. PPS-00012F81 2021/08/06 12'53:38-06:00 io7223731 © 2021 Caterpillar Inc.
