SYSTEMS
The Tyfo® Fibrwrap® Systems are comprised of specialized
fabrics and resins, which in unique combination, create
Port of Long Beach Pier, California
tested and proven composites. Carbon, glass or aramid
reinforcing fibers are combined with high quality resins to
produce a multitude of high performance FRP strengthening
systems, which gives design engineers a wide range of
options to meet the individual needs of a project.

Our Tyfo® FRP Systems have a successful performance record

with over two decades of use. This includes extensive testing
as well as performing as designed during seismic events on

SEISMIC RETROFIT OF STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS
The Problem
The corrosive nature of marine environments can
destroy the aesthetics of a structure, hinder its
serviceability, or render it useless. The amount of
structural distress varies with each project. Fyfe Co.
LLC is the leader in retrofitting reinforced concrete and
wood structures with Tyfo® advanced composites,
rehabilitating and preserving existing structural Fort Mason, San Francisco, California

PREFABRICATED SYSTEMS FOR UNDERWATER APPLICATIONS
The Tyfo Advantage
®

Tyfo® PR jackets are pre-fabricated using the Tyfo®

Fibrwrap® Systems. The Tyfo® Fibrwrap® Systems are
thoroughly tested, accepted and installed all over
the world. They are comprised of carbon, glass,
and aramid reinforcing fibers, combined with Tyfo®
epoxies. The jackets can be constructed to conform
to circular, rectangular, octagonal and H-pile sections,
as required for each individual project.

Fyfe Co. LLC provides superior materials, excellent

technical support service, trained technicians and

The System Composition

Tyfo® SW-1 Epoxy
Is a specially formulated NSF (ANSI) listed, two-
component epoxy designed for partial or complete
underwater cure.

Tyfo® PR Jackets
Are pre-fabricated Tyfo® Fibrwrap® System jackets that
bond back onto themselves using Tyfo® SW epoxy.
Some applications can incorporate additional Tyfo®
Fibrwrap® System “wet-lay-up” layers to optimize
jacket performance. Stainless steel screws are used
Pre-fabricated Jackets for Fisherman’s Wharf to help develop the bond strength for overlap.

Tyfo® PR Grouts

Fyfe Co. LLC offers both cementitious and epoxy

based grout for the Tyfo® PR jacketing system.

Tyfo® Tremmie Grout - Cementitious - 2” annulus

Tyfo® PR- S - Epoxy Mortar Grout - ¼” to ½” annulus

Tyfo® PR-CT - Epoxy Mortar Grout for Cold Temperature

CORROSION CONTROL & PROTECTION
FROM AGGRESSIvE ENvIRONMENTS
The Tyfo® Fibrwrap® Systems are designed to add strength and protection to existing in-water structures. This system is
comprised of high strength fibers and a specially designed epoxy. It is designed to be installed at or below the water
line in both fresh and salt water at temperatures as cold as 44°F (6.7°C).

Product Features

Thoroughly tested at independent laboratories

Can prevent the onset of corrosion when applied to new structural elements
Can be installed below the water line
Excellent long-term material properties in water
Can be used on circular, square, rectangular, hexagonal, flared and alternative shaped cross sections

Components of the Tyfo® CP
(Cathodic Protection) System:
Zinc or titanium oxide anode meshes
Conductive mortar
Tyfo® SEH or SCH materials
Monitoring cables

The main component of the Tyfo® CP System is a zinc

Friendship Trail Bridge, Florida - corrosion mitigation
or titanium oxide mesh as the sacrificial anode. It
prevents future corrosion in structural steel since their
electrochemical potential and consumption rate are
superior than steel. The intent of the sacrificial anode is
Tyfo MC (Monitoring Cable)
®
for it to corrode instead of the steel reinforcement in the
Junction Box
structure. As the cathode in the electrochemical cell, the
steel reinforcement is protected from corrosion.

Tyfo® P-E Grout acts as the electrolyte to complete the

circuit.

The Tyfo® SEH and SCH Systems can be used to anchor

the cathodic protection system. The Tyfo® SEH and SCH
can also serve as additional protection from the elements
Existing Concrete

Longitudinal Rebar
and as structural strengthening.
Steel Stirrups

Tyfo® MC (monitoring cables) can be added to measure

Zinc Mesh Jacket electric potentials and inversely the corrosion rates.

Uses for the Tyfo® CP System:

Maintenance of Marine Structures
Existing Concrete · Piles
· Beams
· Slabs
Electron Transfer
· Walls
· Other elements
Corrosion
Protection of Reinforced Concrete and Steel Structures
that have experienced corrosion.
Sacrificial Anode
(Zinc corrodes instead of steel rebar)
Preventative measure for New Construction
