Fax Machine

1843- First invented fax


machine using synchronized
pendulums. It was invented
by Alexander Bain, a Scottish
inventor.

1851- Invented by Englishman


Frederick Bakewell, a more
updated version using rotating
cylinders rather than swinging
pendulums.

1860s- 1870s - Italian inventor


Giovanni Caselli created the
fax machine pantelegraph and
adopted Brian’s version and
added internal regulating
clock that made both sending
and receiving devices in sync.

1895 -Another type of fax


machine, the telediagraph
invented by Ernest Hummel
was used to send pictures
using telegraph lines and was
used in offices.
1906- German physicists Arthur
Korn made improvements by
inventing the phototelautograph for
copying and reproducing images.

1914 -Another type of fax machine,


The belinograph, invented by
Edouard Belin. The first to send
photos and first to encrypt fax
transmissions.

1924- This year was the first


time Fax become wireless.
Radio Corporation of
America(RCA) was the first
to use this devise.

1935- Western Union introduced


facsimile telegraphy for companies
to easily send signatures and other
materials over long distances almost
instantly.
1947- Developed by
Alexander Muirhead is a
fax machine with rotating
drum scanner- a precursor to
the fax machines.

1980s-1990s- The Modern


Fax Machines which no
longer uses cylinders or
rotating drums but now uses
photosensors and thermal
paper.

21st Century- Internet Fax


or eFax is the evolution of
fax we see today. Fax are
now send online and also
have the ability to send fax
from email to email.
