STUDY AREA

Rajasthan is a state in northern India. The state covers an area of 342,239 square kilometres with
a population of 68,548,437 (2011 census) of which 7.2% is elderly i.e., 4935487 approximately.
it is also the biggest rural state of India which allowed us not only to analyze the implementation
but also the growth and changes through the policy as well as a community perspective on
geriatric health issues.
 According to the World report on ageing and health (WHO,2015), deaths among the
elderly population is mostly observed in the upper-middle-income population
considerably due to injury, cancer, communicable and cardiovascular diseases. This
motivated us to include the urban poor of India in the study as well.
 The life expectancy at age 60 could only increase up to 2 years in India from 1985-2015,
but by 2018 the 65+ elderly population exceeded the under 5 children leading us to study
the interventions that helped in bringing up the change.
The above maps show the demographic area of Rajasthan.
