The Potency of Microalga in Indonesia

One of the potential microalgae that can be found in Indonesia is in Cilacap, exactly in
around irrigation at the PLTU Cilacap. Microalgae species are divided into three different
classes, like Coscinodiscophyceae, Mediophyceae, and Bacillariophyce. Although it consists
of different classes but belongs to the same microalgae group, namely diatoms. Diatoms are
unicellular microalgae whose distribution is very wide in waters so that they are the main
constituent of microalgae in freshwater and marine ecosystems. The utilization of microalgae
in PLTU Cilacap is to mitigate CO₂ emissions. The technology used is a photobioreactor.
