Course Objective:
To explore the skill of modeling many commonly occurring natural phenomena as Ordinary
differential equations and predicting their behavior and introduce the idea of linear
systems which lie at the core level of many engineering concepts
Course Rationale: The students will be recognized by the end of this course that mathematics is based on
relatively few basic concepts and involves powerful unifying principles. The course provides a firm grasp on the
interrelations among theory, computing and experimentation.
It provides proficiency in translating a physical or other problems into a mathematical form (modeling), which
can be an algebraic, a differential equation, a graph or some other mathematical expressions; selecting and
applying a suitable mathematical method, often requiring numerical work on a computer; interpreting the
mathematical result in a physical or other terms. The students acquire the knowledge on usage of MATLAB.
