The plot turns from a gentle comedy to a tear jerking drama. Magnifico focuses on the
good deeds of a saintly nine-year-old Filipino boy (Manio). Magnifico is so wonderful that when
his impoverished family worries about purchasing a coffin for the dying grandmother, the lad
decides to build one himself. As he stretches a tape measure across the sickly woman so that he
can correctly size the box, he and Grandma share a belly laugh. The noble, boring acts continue
apace until the spectacularly sentimental and manipulative ending. And even if some people
don’t cry because of the ending and the whole movie in general, it made me cry quite a bit from
time to time because I am very emotional and videos or clips that have sad scenes sprinkled in
the video, it’ll find a way to really make you shed a tear. But even if the movie has brought the
audience into tears, it’s a really good movie that I will recommend to my other friends and
family. And the efforts of Maryo J. de los Reyes in directing this movie won’t go unseen because
of how astoundingly great it is.
Even if Magnifico is just a fictional character, the things he did were not fictional and this
is something that everyone can do. We just have to put the right kind of effort into the things we
do to help other people and I'm sure that we can be just like Magnifico and the world would be a
better place if there were a lot of those that are just like Magnifico.
