My name’s Margo Cerrone, and I’m looking to apply to the digital internship for Summer 2021.

I am
currently a Junior at the University of Maryland, studying Communications, with a specialization in
Public Relations. In the Summer of 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, I worked for Catalyst
Marketing Communications alongside their Public Relations department, which included: research,
drafting and distributing press releases, compiling media lists, researching new business prospects and
some administrative tasks. PR has taught me that in order to be successful in this field, you can only learn
so many skills, but the rest you need to possess inherently; it is essential and has the power to transform
the future and profitability within any industry or organization. My goal is to be in the midst of all that
action and excitement, and help my future employer flourish and portray themselves in the best possible
light. I have a talent for making other people feel comfortable and understanding their needs. My
background as a former Psychology major at the University of Maryland has taught me why others say
and act the way they do. Knowing what makes a person tick has given me the ability to properly read a
room and crisis situation. There’s two sides to every story, and every word has a stronger meaning. My
deeper understanding behind motives will make me an asset as a part of your team, as I’ve learned how to
best communicate with others, and problem-solve in a timely fashion. By doing this internship, it will
help me use all my studies from college, and translate my knowledge into real-world experience. I hope
that my personal drive, initiative, and genuine interest in learning and contributing in any way I can will
encourage you to allow me to work as a part of your team this Summer.
