Increasing Women in Technology Careers

Women in Tech (WIT) Program Overview

New Horizons, CareerSource South Florida, TechHire, and the YWCA of Miami are excited to announce our 2 nd
Annual Women in Tech (WIT) Cloud and Security Training program. Miami Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava
announced her commitment to the program as part of the Renew305 initiative in a recent press conference.

Last year, we held our first ever Women in Tech (WIT) Program with 11 female graduates. This year, our
commitment to this program is to make an even greater impact. Here’s why:

 Prior to COVID, women made up less than 50% of the workforce, averaging under 20% of the tech jobs.
 A new report ranking “how far women’s wages stretch when comparing earnings to cost of living” in the
nation’s 100 largest metro areas, Miami ranked 99. Only McAllen, Texas, fared worse.
 The average woman’s hourly wage is $17.80, which is just slightly above the $15.90 that is considered
a living wage in Miami Dade.

Corporate Partners
To expand our program and the likelihood of success for these women, we are looking for corporate partners
to join us in this effort to close this gender gap and support diversity initiatives.
