TAPPING INTO
Contextualization:
Tell students you had a huge argument with your father. Tell them he said that
teenagers are all lazy and at their age he used to work very hard.
Ask students why they think we have such different points of view.
Preparation
Show slide to students. Tell them there has been three generations lately.
Ask students if they can guess how old they think these people are nowadays.
Performing
Divide students in groups of three and assign each student with one of the
generations.
After students read about their generation, they’ll share what they learned with their
partners.
Accountability
Tell students to turn the paper over and show slide with sentences. Students will
choose which generation the sentence is about.
Contextualization:
As a link to previous activity ask students to give examples of people around them who
are generation Y. Their teachers, parents, older siblings, etc.
Preparation
Prepare the class for a fishbowl conversation. 4 desks in the center (2-2)
Tell students you will show sentences on the board and they’ll have to find arguments
on how to defend a point of view (agree or disagree that will be assigned by you).
Performing
Students will debate the sentence and at any time you ask a student to leave the seat
and invite another to substitute.
Accountability
Ask students to say what they really think about the generation Y.
