former BBMP commissioner had issued orders to set up plate banks in all
marriage and community halls in the city. According to the order signed by
Manjunath Prasad on September 7, 2018, all wedding halls, banquet halls and
choultries were to have plate banks. Currently, Adamya Chetana, a voluntary
organisation in Jayanagar, is the only organisation that has a plate bank of
about 5,000 utensil sets. The proposal of plate banks was mooted by the Solid
Waste Management Round Table. So there is no concept of plate bank,” said
Vinay, a choultry owner in Lingarajapuram.
