Corona viruses are a large group of viruses that causes illness in human beings and
animals. This causes respiratory illness in humans ranging from common cold to more severe
conditions such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle-East Respiratory
Syndrome (MERS). The word “CO” stands for Corona “VI” for Virus and “D” for diseases
and earlier this disease was referred to as ‘2019 Novel Coronavirus’.

COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Most infected people had mild
to moderate illness and recovered without hospitalization. Most common symptoms found
among people are fever, dry cough and tiredness, while others are found with less common
symptoms like aches and pains, sore throat, diarrhoea, headache, loss of taste or smell, rashes
on skin. The most serious symptoms are difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath, chest
pain and loss of speech or moment.
