Famous Historical Figure Who Inspires Me

When I was a kid I love going to church with my mother. That’s when I came across with
catechists who taught me about saints and their incomparable faithfulness to God. I would never
forget this person that changes my point of view about selfless love.
“Not all of us can do great things. But all of us can do small things with great love”. This
came from Mother Theresa of Calcutta. She was born in 1910 in Skopje, Macedonia. She had a
poor childhood but she had the calling to be a nun and serve the poor. She spent many years in
Calcutta, India where she became the founder of Missionaries of Charity that aims to help the
poor. Because of her charitable works and commitment to helping the weak, she was awarded a
Nobel Prize in 1979, in 2016 she was canonized by the Roman Catholic as Mother Theresa of
Calcutta. Her saying became my guiding principle as I grow up. I used to doubt myself in
anything; classroom activities, group projects, job applications, decisions in life-feels like I am
opting to make mistakes. It resulted in me losing confidence in myself. I always get conscious
when someone tries to question my worth. It made me think that I am not good enough.
However, I have this belief that anything is possible if I will put love in everything that I do-even
the simplest one. I always think of Mother Theresa's selfless love for humanity. She fed the
hungry, sheltered the homeless, consoled the poor, and became a mother to everyone. Now that I
am a teacher, I still remember her in my heart. Being a teacher is one of the noblest professions.
It requires a lot of patience and love to become effective and efficient. It is very tiring and
exhausting but if you are passionate, everything will become fulfilling, especially when your
pupils learn your lessons. No matter what I do, I always dedicate my life to it, I always do my
best.
There might be people who mock me for being so committed but I do not care (they can’t
be dedicated as I am). I am not expecting anything in return, it’s just that, this is the right thing to
do. According to her (Mother Theresa), love is not love when it is not put in action, and it is
called service.
