BASIC 1

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. THE TEACHER WILL CHOOSE A LETTER FROM DIFFERENT CARD SETS FOR EACH
STUDENT.

2. EACH CARD SET WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT TOPIC TO BE DEVELOPED WITH THE
TEACHER AS A CONVERSATION BETWEEN THEM.

3. STUDENTS WILL HAVE TWO MINUTES OF PREPARATION TIME TO ASK FROM 4 TO


6 QUESTIONS DURING WHICH THEY MAY TAKE NOTES.

4. STUDENTS WILL THEN PROCEED TO ASK QUESTIONS REGARDING THE GIVEN


TOPIC TO THE TEACHER AND TAKE TURNS ASKING AND RESPONDING TO EACH
OTHERS QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CONVERSATIONS TOPIC AS FOLLOWS:

1. STUDENT ASKS ONE QUESTION


2. TEACHER RESPONDS
3. TEACHER ASKS ONE QUESTION
4. STUDENT RESPONDS

THE CONVERSATION SHOULD LAST A TOTAL OF FOUR MINUTES.

STUDENTS SHOULD BE INDICATED TO USE COMPLETE SENTENCES AND SPEAK AS


CLEARLY AND CORRECTLY AS POSSIBLE.

PLEASE REFER TO THE SCORING RUBRIC FOR GRADING EXPECTATIONS.

CENTERS WITH MORE THAN TWO TEACHERS SHOULD NOT EVALUATE THEIR OWN
STUDENTS.
