SAP: It means system application and products in data processing .


SAP is the third largest software company in the world. SAP is the
largest business application & Enterprise Resource planning(ERP)
solution software provider in terms of revenue. The company’s main
product is MYSAP ERP.

In SAP all Implementations can be run in single module. Modules


are BI, PM, FICO, QM, MM, HR, SD

ERP: (Enterprise Resource Planning)

The ERP software manage the whole enterprise. Enterprise it is


nothing but a Company (or) Organisation(or) Firm. Resource nothing
but Manpower, Material, Services, Money. Organisation has to plan for
Manpower, Machine, Services in a good way for support. ERP package
is nothing but business suit.
Leading ERP software:

Oracle E-Business suites (formerly oracle application):

It’s all are related to functional matter (Banking/payable


/Receivable/Mutual/Chit funds). It’s used for large and medium scale
departments.

Microsoft Dynamics:

It’s suitable for small applications two or three small hospitals .

People Soft:

It’s related to human resources(Man power). People management


implement in people soft. It’s used for medium and large scale
applications.

Baan:

It’s good in production planning. Used for medium and large


scale applications (pm ,fi, sd) not concentrated.
SAP:

It will be providing all department components not(100%) upto


(70%). Sap used in medium and large scales, there is in a good
integration module to module, make it is an one folder (fi, sd, pm, mm,
pp, qm ) /module. Sap is in a moduler structure. It is user friendly.

SAP 3-tier (or) R/3 architecture:


SAP R/3 is one of the main product of SAP,where R stands for
RealTime and the number 3 relates to three tier application
architecture(Data base layer and Application layer and presentation
layer). Most of the business in todays world runs on SAP R/3 system.
About 80% of the companies implemented this software.

presentation layer contains the software components that make up


the SAP gui (graphical user interface). Example: desktop, laptop,
mobile devices.

Database layer: It is the area where the complete data resides .It has
own queue, process, buffer and request handling mechanism. most of
the databases are on Oracle.
