Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow in your
English notebooks:
Jeans is a dress loved by all age groups. In fact some companies that make
jeans have become so popular, that they charge a lot of money. One such jeans
is the ‘Levi’. How these jeans were made is an interesting story.

During the 1850’s a tailor in America started making tough trousers for people
who worked in gold mines, so that the trouser do not tear easily. He made them
out of brown canvas material used to make tents. The tailor, whose name was
Levi Strauss, soon became one of the richest men in America.

Jeans are a very popular article of casual dress around the world. They come in
many styles and colours. However, blue jeans are particularly identified with
American culture, especially the Old West. Although jeans are mostly known as
a popular fashion garment for several decades, they are still worn as protective
garments by some individuals, such as cattle ranch workers and motorcycle
riders, due to their high durability as compared to other common fabrics.
