Dear Sir:

The effluent standards of each country are developed based on the levels of the pollutants of the
receiving streams and estimated additional load considering the volume of the stream and the
additional source of the said pollutants.

This is the main reason why different countries have different effluent standards. Attached is the proof
of this phenomena.

So in the case of Brunei, we can formulate the effluent standards after the water quality monitoring of
the rivers and estimation of the volume of the receiving streams and possible additional load of the
pollutants.
