3. Label addendum and flank in a simple sketch of gear tooth?
4. What is done to accommodate initial sag in chain drive?
5. State law of gearing.

PART – B (1X16Mark+3X8Marks=40 Marks)

6. A v-belt is required to transmit 16KW power to a compressor. The motor speed is

1440 rpm and the speed reduction ratio is 36. Design the belt drive. Sketch the details of
pulley . (16)

7. Design a pair of spur gears to transmit 10 kW at a pinion speed of 1000 rpm. The
transmission ratio is 4 assume suitable material and stress. (8)

8. A 15 kW squirrel cage motor, 1250 rpm is driving a centrifugal pump at 550 rpm.
The centrifugal pump is located at 700 mm from the motor. Design the chain drive.
