The Riverton Street Charter School

Andrea Whitehurst, Principal

Dear Parents,

Please be advised that Riverton’s Middle School has two categories of uniform. These are namely: the
formal and the informal or dress-down uniforms. The informal uniform will be worn for five months
within the school year (September – October & April – June), whilst the formal uniform must be worn
from November 1st – March 31st.
The full and proper Middle School uniform includes:

White collared shirts and charcoal gray bottoms (pants or skirts).

Navy blue blazer with fastened Riverton Crest – Girls may wear a sweater with the crest, but
should have a blazer for most formal occasions (i.e. ceremonies, assemblies, trips, etc.).
Green Tie
Socks/tights must be worn and must be gray, blue, brown, or black
Girls must wear gray pants or skirts. The skirts must be longer than the fingers when arms hang
at the student’s side, or no more than three inches above the knees.
Shoes must be dark brown or black (loafer type or casual dress)
Extreme hairstyles are not permitted. Hair color must be of natural tones and may not be
professionally colored, dyed, or streaked.

The informal/dress-down uniform includes:

Green polo shirts and charcoal gray pants or skirts.

On the days that your child has Physical Education, please have him/her wear their sneakers and
Riverton Physical Education attire (blue T-shirt, blue shorts & blue sweat pants). It is mandatory that
each of our scholars wears the full and proper uniform every day, unless otherwise notified to wear
their dress-down uniform (green polo shirt). In the case of a dress down day, you will be notified in the
form of a notice stating that your child is permitted to wear their green polo and gray bottoms. Our
expectation is that our scholars must adorn themselves appropriately as Riverton Street Middle School
Scholars every day.
