1 GSM Jammer Detection

1.1 Purpose
Jammer Detection is used to provide an indication to the application program that a jamming signal has
been detected.

1.2 Overview
This application note provides an overview of the GSM signal jam detection function on supported Enfora,
Inc. devices and modules.
Jam detection was added to some Enfora devices and modules in firmware release 1.1.2 pkg 46.

Jam detection is performed during cell selection scan. The detection algorithm depends on calculating and
performing a comparison of Reception Levels. Detection is performed on individually on each of the 4 GSM
bands (850/900/1800/1900 MHz).
