• Department of Health (DOH) announced the detection of the first case of the Lambda
variant of COVID-19 in the Philippines
• 82 more Delta variant cases confirmed on Sunday, August 15, bringing the total to 807
• Philippines recorded 14,749 new COVID-19 cases, the new second highest single-day
tally
• The DOH also logged 270 new fatalities due to the virus, bringing the death toll to
30,340. This is the third consecutive day that over 200 new deaths were reported.
• Manila Mayor Isko Moreno announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

• PH registers another single-day high of 14,610 new COVID-19 cases
• Department of Health (DOH) started carrying out a mobile COVID-19 survey that seeks
to find out Filipinos' health practices during the pandemic.
• Department of Health announced that Alert Level 4 has been raised in various areas in
Central Luzon including Nueva Ecija, Angeles City, Pampanga, Tarlac, Olongapo City, and
Zambales due to COVID-19. (Alert Level 4 means risk class is moderate to critical and
COVID-19 bed utilization rate has already been greater than 70%.)
AUGUST 17, 2021
• DOH and other operating units committed to resolving COA findings, announced that
P67.3 Billion COVID-19 Funds mostly resolved.
• Over 2,000 fully-vaccinated cops from five National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO)
police districts have been deployed to provide support and security in vaccination
centers as Metro Manila is on its second week of enhanced community quarantine.
• DOH reports 10,035 new cases. Active cases are now at 105,787, 10,858 new
recoveries. The death toll is now at 30,462 with 96 new deaths.
