Division of Southern Railway - Temporary Condonation of infringements to

Southern Railway Vide ref(i), has submitted an application for Railway Board's
temporary sanction for condonatjon of vertical infringement at ROB No. 5A between
Madurai and Manamadurai stations. The Railway plans to lower the track under the ROB
to eliminate the infringement. However, as the work is expected to take time, temporary
condonation has been sought by the Railways. The clearance study has been done by the
Railway in this regard and same has been approved by EIG. The application received
from Southern Railway Administration's letter No. W.573/RE/ MDU-MNM / ROB-5A dt :
29.6.2021 along with all other relevant enclosures duly recommended is forwarded
herewith for obtaining Railway Board's sanction subject to the following safety
Precautions :

(1) Rail Level to be marked prominently on the ROB pillars. Raising of track shall not
be permitted.
(2) Locomotives and Rolling Stocks higher than 4.27 in shall be treated as ODC.
Permitted locomotives /Rolling stocks to run under this bridge are mentioned in the
form Xvll.
(3) Restriction of ODC movement shall be notified in Working Time Table.

(4) Special Engineering Board showing the restrictions shall be placed at the entrance
of either side bridge of the bridge.
(5) Speed potential of tramway OHE(if tram way OHE used) shall be ensured in the
bridge area.
(6) ODC/rolling stock if stalled/stopped due to any reason under the ROB location,
arrangement shall be made to switch off OHE, if long time clearance is not met at
the ROB location.
(7) Measurement of vertical clearance at an interval of three months jointly by TRD and
Engineering department to be ensured till the existing infringements are removed.
Recorded Measurement should be kept with traceability.
(8) Track maintenance in the ROB area shall be done in the presence of TRD official
and after every maintenance activity, track measurement shall be done to ascertain
minimum clearance as per EIG approval is maintained.
(9) Special paints to be provided on the structure to indicate the infringement.
Clearances shall be painted on the structure for reference.
(10) This condonation shall be valid for a period of 2 years.
