Now, I would like to talk about some of my long-term goals.

 My first long-term goal is to achieve IELTS band 8.0.

First of all, from my point of view, English is highly important for university
students, especially when you’re studying abroad. The reason is that when you’re
in a different country such as Australia, English will help you communicate with
people around you, including your neighbors, other students, or your professors.
Therefore, you can understand the lectures, have relatively less difficulties when
expressing your idea to others.
Moreover, English gives you a rich knowleged, 55% of websites in the
world are written in English, more than all other languages combined, outstripping
the second most used language, Russian with 6% of websites. You can find
anything you need to know by typing keywords in English. Besides that, English is
also the language of science. 95% of the articles collected at the Institute of
Scientific Information in the US are written in English, although half of them come
from countries that do not speak the language.
On the orther hand, you will be more attractive in the eyes of employers
when you have an IELTS 8.0 certificate. Knowing a foreign language is a
testament to the intellectual strength of a candidate. It shows the employer how
much time and effort you've invested in mastering a new language. Faced with a
potential candidate with good English skills, employers will immediately think
about what they will use that ability to use. The company's activities related to
foreign and international elements will probably be reserved for those who are
good at foreign languages.
Finally, having an IELTS 8.0 certificate seems to increase my opportunity of
winning a scholarship abroad since most high school students tend to score around
6.5 to 7.0 on the IELTS test. Also, the minimum requirements for a scholarship
abroad are having an IELTS band 6.5, so if I scored an 8.0 on my IELTS test, I
would definitely have more chances.
To achieve that goal, you should:
 Choose an English learning center.
 Find channels on youtube to practice listening and speaking skills.
 Follow blogs or read books and newspapers to improve reading and writing
skills.
 Study on your own with IELTS resources such as Cambrige or Oxford.
 Develop a specific timetable for learning.
